THE MIGHTY WIND

Is it really possible that the Holy Spirit can totally change us? Absolutely. If the Lord could turn mud into man as He breathed the breath of life into man, imagine what He can do by breathing on us again! That is what happened at Pentecost.

“And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.” (Acts 2:2)

Those who gathered in the upper room on the Day of Pentecost felt the breath of almighty God. And as it blew gently upon them, they were transformed. When the Holy Spirit empowers your life, you can expect three things to happen:

1. The Lord will become very close to you.
2. Because of that relationship, your ultimate desire will be to walk in the ways of God.
3. You will be miraculously transformed into a new person.

I am convinced that the Holy Spirit, alive and present on the earth today, is the sign of the covenant God has made with us through the blood of His Son Jesus.

God will fill your life with the fire and glory of His Holy Spirit when you come to Him through the blood. In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. (Ephesians 1:13)

I have met many people who pray, “Lord, send the Holy Spirit upon my life! Fill me with Your power!” The Holy Spirit will come when we honor the death of Jesus Christ and His blood.

For example, in the Old Covenant when blood was offered, God sent fire, and His glory descended. Do you remember what occurred at the dedication of Solomon’s great temple?

When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. (2 Chronicles 7:1)

What was the sign of the Holy Spirit? In the Old Testament it was often fire (Lev. 9:23-24; 1 Kings 18:38; 2 Chron. 7:1) representing God’s all-consuming holiness.

John the Baptist also prophesied:

“I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Luke 3:16)

After Jesus shed His blood at Calvary, the Holy Spirit came as fire again. The disciples were gathered together in Jerusalem, as Jesus had commanded:

Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:3-4)

God will fill your life with the fire and glory of His Holy Spirit when you come to Him through the blood.

Andrew Murray, a prolific Christian author who lived from 1828 to 1917, wrote about the relationship between Jesus’ blood and the Holy Spirit in his book The Power of the Blood.

Where the blood is honored in faith or preaching, there the Spirit works; and where He works He always leads souls to the blood.

BEWARE OF COMFORT

Life is meant to be for continuous progress. The present state of your life is a comfortable zone. Many have sacrificed the greatness of their future to the comfort of the present. Between your present and your future is inconvenience. But, movement is never convenient. It is stretching, it is “stressful”. But it is that stretch that leads to a spread. The stretch may tell a toll on you but it will make you tall in the end. If the toll will make me tall, then I am eager to go for it. SHARE

DRAW CLOSE TO GOD
